No, it’s a bug. http://identi.ca/url/75841161
Yes, I completely agree.
Totally hear you. I think it has to be under user control, and that people will figure out if they want to accept ads by following someone.
@marjoleink When I say “network” I mean the full network, all sites. If it’s really “open”, there will be ads.
@douglasawh I hope that the canonical place to go will be pump.io, and get routed out from there.
First, it’s not by mistake that I’ve downplayed the role of the site in pump.io. There’s no public feed, per-site tag feeds, site search.
@irinarempt a lot of the bloggers I like put ads on their blogs to make some beer money. I don’t fault them for it.
@irinarempt I think that’s absolutely great! I also think that it’s impossible and maybe even unfair to insist on a network with no ads.
Did you read what I wrote, or did you just see the word “advertising” and run away?
I don’t think an ad server works without a bigger audience.
That’s interesting. Why do you think it’s a mistake?
@tobias that’s really useful. I’m looking forward to more collaboration in the future.
@erkanyilmaz Maybe people should give it a chance instead of being negative ahead of time.
@marjoleink Your stream is causing errors in the backup script; I can maybe debug this weekend. As you can imagine, I have a lot to do.
@rysiek In English “patch” also means to put a patch on something broken, like a pair of pants or a tire. It’s an imperfect fix.
@marjoleink I’m doing the best that I can. I’m sorry that it’s not what you want, but I’m glad you have the choice to move on.
That said, it’d sure be cool to have a client that could post to all: pump, SN, ~F, etc. But then it wouldn’t work well with any of them.
